WELCOME TO LEHIGH VALLEY SOMATIC THERAPY CENTER
We believe that your body has a story to tell; we will help you to learn to trust it.
YOUR BODY HAS BEEN YOUR COMPANION THROUGH ALL OF LIFE'S EVENTS.
It composes in all its muscles, in all the nerve fibers, and in every cell, the story of YOU.
Your body is where your emotions live, and where you create your thoughts.
It is where your soul abides and it hosts the fountainhead of wisdom.
Your body is a reliable resource, ally, and guide.
"And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet
and the winds long to play with your hair."
~ Kahihl Gibran
WHAT IS TRANSFORMATIVE TOUCH?
Transformative Touch works with the nervous system guiding clients to:
Create new and awakened relationships with their body.
Understand their safety system and how to self-regulate.
Give attention, care, and compassion to the sensations of their bodies.
Restore movement in their bodies
Express emotions long held in the body.
Experience more ease and freedom in their body and their life.
Relieve pressure and stress to open space for more peace and joy.
Connect to their pure and inalterable wholeness which is the Source for all healing.
Feel more alive and live more fully.
Transformative Touch is the touch of gentle, gracious guidance.
It is a conversation that occurs through the touch of our voices,
the compassion of our presence, and the talk of our hands.
It is a collaborative process that fosters and forges a healing dialogue
in which the client fully participates.
Together we discover and listen to the story of the body,
the interior landscape of the person.
Movement is life and is often limited or curtailed through the stresses, challenges, and traumas of life. We hold tight in protective mode, shrink or compress ourselves from messages received from our wise body.
Through Transformative Touch, movement that was once lost or taken away by the events of our lives is returned to the body, our being. This re-animation of movement provides an essential piece needed for healing.
TOUCH IS KEY
In our Somatic Therapy, touch is literal and metaphorical. We touch in order to access the healing wisdom that the body has to offer to our clients. Our touch is a touch of presence, not a doing or fixing touch.
WHEN YOU ARE MOVED DEEPLY IN YOUR HEART,
YOU SAY YOU ARE "TOUCHED"
Touch opens you to your heart space.
Touch awakens you to warmth and belonging, to both your fragility and your strength.
Touch allows for a repairing of patterns. it also gives us, as a therapist, direct access to the nervous system of the client.
This touch assists the client in the re-wiring of the nervous system circuitry of past injuries.
When a client is fully engaged through hand, heart, and words, their nervous system stabilizes and becomes steady again. Safety is experienced and an open healing state is created.
TRANSFORMATIVE TOUCH SUPPORTS THE CLIENT
TO AWAKEN THE WISDOM OF THE BODY
WHAT IS SOMATIC THERAPY?
To live fully, we must live fully embodied,
which means aligning body, mind, heart and soul.
SOMATIC THERAPY USES THE BODY
AS ITS STARTING POINT FOR HEALING
The word, "Somatic" is derived from the Greek word, "Soma" which means, "living body". It is a holistic form of therapy that is grounded in the relationship between the mind and body.
Whatever happens in our lives impacts our mind either consciously or unconsciously. Sometimes events such as the unexpected death of a loved one, illness, fearful thought, accidents result in traumas.
THE THEORY BEHIND SOMATIC THERAPY IS THAT TRAUMA SYMPTOMS ARE THE EFFECTS OF INSTABILITY OF THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM (A.N.S). THESE EVENTS DISRUPTED THE A.N.S.
Our bodies hold on to these past events and are reflected in our body language, posture, and expressions. This can manifest in physical symptoms like pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, immune system dysfunction, medical issues, depression, anxiety, and addiction.
Somatic Therapy offers a variety of benefits. It reduces discomfort, strain, and stress in the body. It transforms negative emotional experiences, creates a greater sense of self, builds resilience and offers hope.
Stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship conflicts are problems that exist both in the body and the mind, so the cure must involve both as well. Traditional therapy engages the mind looking for insights through talking and telling the story, while this is important, it is not the whole dialogue.
We live our lives in our bodies and experience the world through our five senses. Our nervous system is the mediator and registers our responses to life's events throughout our body systems. Therapy that does not engage the information that the body offers is neglecting important wisdom.
Your body is where your emotions live, your thoughts occur, your soul dwells and wisdom abides. Your body is a reliable resource, ally, and guide...
